Just about any outdoor adventure in Maine will produce incredible views. Even a simple walk in your very own neighborhood will remind you how lucky we are to be surrounded by forest, fresh air, and views. But if you’re looking for a journey that’s a bit more involved, head to Blue Hill for this fun hike with a view like none other!
The 2-mile Blue Hill Trail is fun, fairly simple to follow, and leads to an unexpectedly fantastic view!
The route is considered moderate due in part to the 600-foot elevation gain, but the out-and-back route is fairly simple to follow.
Winding through low forest and making its way slowly towards more open fields, there's a lot of unique landscape to take in along the way.
While much of the trail is clearly marked, you'll want to keep an eye out for rocky areas that you'll find on your way to the top.
Once you get to the open field, you'll know you're close to the view you came for!
And throughout the year you'll find a different kind of beauty. Fall foliage is on full display just after summer. There's nothing like the greenery of the spring and summer.
And once you get to the top, Blue Hill Bay is magnificent!
Once you've enjoyed the beauty of the view, simply turn around and head back the way you came.
There are a few other trails here too, so be sure to do some exploring and plan another trip to check out the rest.
The Blue Hill trail is accessible year-round. You can learn more about it and see more photos and a map by checking out alltrails.com. Love adventuring with your furry friend? No problem, they're welcome here! Just be sure to keep them on a leash.
There is plenty of other incredible scenic overlooks here and many don't even require a hike. This magnificent overlook in Maine is worthy of a little adventure.
