It's not often you get to see treetop views in Louisiana, but if you're up for a road trip, a breathtaking view awaits you. Nestled in the heart of the Kisatchie National Forest lies one of the most beautiful hiking trails in Louisiana, and it leads to a surreal view that's the only one of its kind in the Pelican State. Let's check it out.
If you’re looking to surround yourself in one of the most isolated areas in Louisiana, the Kisatchie National Forest is the place to be.
Comprised of over 600,000 acres of rugged landscape, the Kisatchie is Louisiana’s only National Forest, and it’s filled with hundreds of trails to explore.
And these aren’t your average nature boardwalk trails through the swamps.
You’ll encounter some pretty intense terrain along the way - at least, intense as far as Louisiana trails are concerned.
The Backbone Trail, in particular, will take you on quite a journey through towering pines and rolling hills.
You’ll end up at the Longleaf Vista Recreation Center, and it’s the perfect spot to take a break from all that hiking.
Because you’ll be greeted with a glorious treetop view.
Elevation ranges in the forest, and at the overlook, you’ll be about 300 feet above sea level, giving you an awe-inspiring view.
On a clear day, you can see for miles.
You might just never want to leave. Bring your camping gear and spend a night under the stars!
Imagine waking up to a view like this. Incredible!
