Looking to find some new trails for an epic adventure? Dust off your hiking boots and don’t let summer come to a close without exploring these amazing, less traveled trails.

1. Glenn Emery Trail

This 3.8-mile out and back trail over in Bentley is perfect for anyone looking to immerse yourself in a forest setting. The endpoints are the Stuart Lake Recreation Complex and the Pollock Community Sports Complex. You can find a trail map for the Glenn Emery Trail here.

2. Woodlands Trail

At the end of this four-mile trail, you’ll come across some historical WWII ammunition bunkers. There’s also an equestrian trail that parallels most of the trail, in case you’d like to explore the area on horseback. For more information, check out our previous feature article here.

3. Magnolia Forest Walk

The Magnolia Forest Walk is an out and back trail that’s just shy of six miles. Located in the Kisatchie National Forest near Elmer, the trail is dog-friendly as long as they are kept on a leash. Click here for a trail map of the Magnolia Forest Walk.

4. Northlake Nature Center South Loop Trail

The two-mile trail in Mandeville has some absolutely stunning scenic views of the swamps and bayous that surround it. You can find a trail map here.

5. Durden Hills Nature Trail

Head over to Haughton to take your pick of three loop trails, each about 2.5 miles. It’s a great place for an afternoon hike or a bike ride through the trees. You'll find it at 1700 Bodcau Dam Rd., Haughton, LA 71037.

6. White Tail Trail

Located in Claiborne State Park, this 2.6-mile loop trail is a great place for wildlife spotting and offers beautiful views of Lake Claiborne. Click here for a trail map.

7. Monkey Trail

Named after the monkeys at the nearby chimpanzee sanctuary, this loop trail is just shy of seven miles and is primarily a mountain biking trail. 8. Hardwood Forest Loop Trail

This two-mile trail is part of the Frenchtown Conservation Area near Baton Rouge. The trail features beautiful water views and is great for kids. Click here for a trail map.
