It can be tricky to find a nature trail that the whole family will enjoy. Lucky for us, we have an incredible nature park in northwest Louisiana that families with kids of all ages will love. From live animal exhibits to scenic views, the network of trails at the Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Park is an all-day adventure worthy of a road trip.
Nestled within a beautiful pine-oak-hickory forest in Shreveport, the Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Park helps to connect people with nature through exhibits, special events, and hands-on activities.
With over 160 acres to explore, you can easily spend an entire day here, strolling the trails and learning about the area.
Kids will love the exhibits, which teach about all of the different wildlife and plants that are found in the area.
There’s also an aviary with several different species of birds.
And there's also a deer pen! You’ll have the chance to see these beauties up close and personal before your hike.
There are several different trails at the park, each one varying in length and special sights to see.
No matter which one(s) you choose, you’ll be met with seas of emerald greens, beautiful bayou views, and pops of wildflowers along the way.
Several of the trails meet up with each other, so you can mix and match depending on how much time you'd like to spend exploring.
The park is free to enter and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
