It's time for another trail exploration! This one is absolutely stunning, with both tree-filled areas and wide open views of our beautiful state. This easy trail really does make you feel like you're on top of the world, or at least Kansas.
The Godwin Hill Loop Trail is part of the Konza Prairie, and is about 6 miles around. At the beginning, there's a little guide that explains key points of the trail and the prairie itself.
Most of the paths are hard packed dirt or gravel, making for an easy trek.
There's a few features within the trees that make it more than just a hill trail, with room to explore along the way.
You never know what you might stumble upon, especially here in the Flint Hills.
The only tough part of this is the rising elevation, but with a walking stick and a little work, you can get to the top to see everything from a higher view.
Before you know it, you're higher than you expect. It's a gradual climb, but it only gets more beautiful as you reach the top.
Once you're up there, it's absolutely breathtaking. It feels like you can see for miles, and there's nothing between you and the horizon.
No matter the season, as long as the weather is clear, this is a great trail to take. The beauty of the Konza really can't be matched.
The Konza Prairie is in the Junction City/Manhattan area, but feel free to take a look at this map to help you out.
