It's finally warm out, which means berry season is right around the corner. Though it's not quite May, getting your travel plans in order at least a couple weeks ahead is a must. When it's finally berry season, make sure you're ready to head on over to this berry farm in small town Kansas. Pick them yourself, and make it a day of family fun.
Welcome to your next berry vacation, Gieringers Family Orchard and Berry Farm. This family-run business out in Edgerton has been going since around 2004, when their orchard reached maturity and they were able to open for their first u-pick.
One thing this farm is known and loved for is their amazing peaches. However, there's another thing they do every summer that brings in just as many.
When it's picking season, you can pick to your pocket's content of fresh grown strawberries, without any grocery store in sight.
They have blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries of many sizes and shapes, but all fresh and well taken care of.
Before you visit, the owners of the farm would like you to know you will probably want or need sunscreen, closed toed shoes, hand wipes, and breathable clothing. Kansas heat is definitely no joke.
During regular picking season, they're open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. but they may close due to weather if need be. I know where I'm going for fresh picked berries this year!
You'll find Gieringers Orchard and Berry farm at 39345 W 183rd St, Edgerton, Kansas. For more information, check out their website here.
While you're making travel plans, why not consider other trips you could take this summer, like this town full of hand painted horses?
