If you're always looking for a new adventure, head out to the town of Keota, Iowa and hop on to the Kewash Nature Trail! This hidden gem trail in Iowa runs between two charming towns and offers an easy hike or bike trek that's family-friendly and full of beautiful views.
The Kewash Nature Trail connects the towns of Washington and Keota, Iowa. It runs for 14 miles, which makes it a wonderful cycling trail, or a great spot for an out-and-back run or hike, where you can choose your own distance!
This hidden gem trail in Iowa was converted from an old railway, which means it's wide and level, making it an easy outdoor adventure, even if you've got a stroller with you, or are in a wheelchair.
You won't find any staggering cliffs or high hill climbs on the way, so this is an easy hike for kids to join, too!
Hop on the trail from either trailhead, and go on until your heart desires! If you're on a bike, it's a fun full-day adventure. Start in one town, pedal to lunch in the other, and then head on back home!
In Washington, the trailhead can be found in Sunset Park. The park itself has plenty of amenities, like restrooms, parking, and even a playground.
One of the highlights of the trail is the Crooked Creek Bridge. It's a great spot for a quick break - with water views!
All along the way, you'll find beautiful views of the Iowa countryside. This hidden gem trail is one that's always quiet, peaceful, and just begging to be discovered.
