There's just something about small towns, right? For example, Culver is one of the cutest small towns in Indiana and, as you might recall, we've made an entire trip out of it in the past. Seriously, it's really great and well worth a visit for the town itself - but right now, we're going to focus on one particular feature of this adorable little town that makes for the perfect (totally underrated) summertime destination. Did you know that hidden in Culver is a family-friendly swim beach that feels just like being seaside? It's true - Culver Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Indiana, and it's also home to one of the best beaches in Indiana, too! Check it out and see for yourself:
Culver Beach is located along the northwestern shores of Lake Maxinkuckee and, despite its relatively small size, it packs a huge punch for families looking for stuff to do on a hot afternoon.
The water is crisp, cool, and sparkling clear. It reflects the endless blue sky above it, and it's truly one of the most picturesque summertime safe havens of fun the Hoosier State has to offer.
A day at Culver Beach feels like a day spent by the ocean; there are lifeguards, fun activities, and all sorts of delightful amenities that will make any day perfect.
In the summer (and year-round, really), the town of Culver holds events, festivals, farmers markets, and more fun stuff on and nearby Culver Beach. Take your pick from outdoor movie nights to Fourth of July fireworks and everything in between.
Enjoy the summer concert series held in the afternoons at the small venue on the beach with some truly wonderful lake views.
Go adventure sailing, splash around in the cool water, or head off on a boat ride while you're on the lake. It's an excellent location for fishing... well, when it's quiet, anyway.
…which, admittedly, isn't often - but sometimes you can still get lucky and have the beach almost entirely to yourself.
There is an admission charge to access the beach, but we promise it's absolutely worth it! Should you be interested in water-based fun, there are also kayak and paddle board rentals available - who says you need to spend all your time on the beach? Get out and live a little!
With a body of water as clear and beautiful as this one it, it's impossible not to get in the water.
Perhaps best of all is that it maintains its chilliness throughout the summer. It never feels warm or tepid; it's cool, refreshing, and an excellent bathing place for the soul.
A summer spent at Culver Beach is a summer well spent indeed.
…and don't forget to look up when the sun goes down.
