Southern Idaho is full of some of the most beautiful waterfalls, but few know about the hidden gem known as Pillar Falls. This beautiful waterfall isn't as large and epic as, say, Shoshone Falls...but you'll soon see why this waterfall is so special. Paddling down the Snake River and arriving at the waterfall is a beloved pastime among locals who know just how incredible this waterfall's unique landscape is. Check out one of Idaho's most fascinating sights by visiting Pillar Falls. Keep scrolling to see what all the fuss is about!
Pillar Falls is a little-known gem that can only reached via Centennial Park in Twin Falls, Idaho. Paddling down the Snake River to this unique waterfall is a wonderful summertime tradition that you'll definitely want to partake in, especially when you see what makes these falls so incredible.
If you don't have a kayak, you can easily rent one from a company that is usually stationed out of Centennial Park. If you're not familiar with paddling, don't worry. This is considered an easy venture that's great for beginners.
After paddling for about a mile and a half, the beautiful Pillar Falls will come into view. The waterfall is modest, but it isn't the waterfall that will blow you away; it's the surroundings. Scattered around the waterfall are these massive pillars that loom over you as you get closer and closer to them.
The most noticeable formations are two 100-foot columns which cause the water to squeeze through several narrow and swift channels. This is where paddlers usually plant their boats and get out to explore the rocks.
The area is simply unlike anything you've seen before. Dozens of little pools of water cover the rocky area where you can dip your feet for a bit and relax while listening to the cascading water.
Plenty of small but gorgeous waterfalls flow into the river around you. This place is like a little paradise in the middle of the Snake River—a true hidden gem.
Pillar Falls is humble, but the surrounding rock pillars and scenery make this an otherworldly adventure that you'll remember for years to come. This is definitely something you have to see with your own eyes!
