For just a few weeks out of the year, many of our Idaho landscapes erupt into a spectacular show of fall colors. Seeing our state's fall foliage during its peak should be every Idahoan's mission this year. The sight of gold, orange, and red covered trees is more than enough to take your breath away. If you're looking for a unique way to experience the fall beauty this year, look no further than Lake Pend Oreille Cruises. This one-of-a-kind cruise company offers a fantastic fall cruise every year that is bound to blow you away. Sit back on the old-fashioned boat and take in the stunning scenery. This is a sight you definitely don't want to miss out on.
The largest lake in the entire state is hiding in the northern Idaho panhandle and it's absolutely spectacular. Lake Pend Oreille is one of those must-see sights in our state, and there's no better time than during the fall season. Luckily for us, Lake Pend Oreille Cruises offers an amazing fall cruise that lets you do just that.
Lake Pend Oreille Cruises offers both private and public charters across one of Idaho's most stunning bodies of water—Lake Pend Oreille.
They boast a variety of cruises such as their renowned "Dessert and Eagle Watching Cruise" or "Daily Birds of Prey Cruise". On these cruises, passengers can delight not only in the beauty of the lake but the surrounding wildlife as well. Seasonal cruises also include a "4th of July Fireworks Cruise" and even a "Full Moon Cruise". However, one of their most awe-worthy cruises is the Clark Fork Delta Cruise that takes place during fall.
This specific cruise takes place from September 15 through October 15 and allows passengers a unique opportunity to explore the Clark Fork Delta. Many locals will attest that this is the best cruise on the lake, and it's a must-do.
During the cruise, passengers will be able to view some of the most postcard-worthy views of the lake's surrounding fall foliage. The sight of the tree-covered hills around the lake when they are covered in glorious fall colors is an awe-inspiring experience. The entire cruise makes for an excellent photo-op from start to finish.
However, the cruise also gives passengers a deeper insight into the delta including its history. The boat will take you right across where the Ice Age era dam that created Lake Pend Oreille was actually located. You'll also learn all about the lake's geologic history, including how it was formed, right up until present day.
All in all, you'll spend two hours on the lake and one hour inside of the delta. The cruise takes places from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm every Sunday and on some weekdays. It's recommended that you call at least 24 hours in advance to book your placement on the cruise.
Can you think of a better way to experience Idaho's fall foliage? We didn't think so. There's something almost magical about cruising across Idaho's largest lake while it's shrouded in majestic shades of red, yellow, and orange.
