During the winter months from December through April, this a popular spot for whale watching, as the area off the coast is designated as a Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary. It is common to see whales frolicking off the coast — no binoculars or fancy whale watching cruise required.
Did we happen to mention that the sunsets here are truly remarkable as well? The sun sets the sky ablaze with a display of vibrant colors as it slips behind the horizon, reflecting on the Pacific the entire time, of course. Be aware, though: the parking lot can get full around sunset. Arrive early or be patient.
