Most people are surprised to learn that the Hawaiian Islands are home to countless incredible farms, ranches, and sprawling fields. From macadamia nut and local coffee farms to cattle ranches, organic spirit distilleries, and even honey bee and goat dairy operations, Hawaiian Islands are home to countless incredible agricultural ventures, and you’ll find the best of the best at this charming roadside farmers’ market.
Nestled on the Maui Tropical Plantation, which sprawls more than 800 acres across the island and is home to a restaurant, coffee shop, ice cream parlor, and several unforgettable tours in addition to being a working farm are the unparalleled Kumu Farms Stand.
Kumu Farms began as a small family farm in 1981 on the island of Molokai, growing specialty produce — like peppers and herbs — for the local market. This family operation grew throughout the years, and in 2011, they opened a farm at the Maui Tropical location.
Cultivating more than 60 acres of land on the plantation, Kumu Farms offers all sorts of produce for sale at their roadside farm stand in addition to selling their products to private businesses and retail locations across Hawaii and the United States mainland.
Here, you will find a variety of both organic and conventional produce, from fruits like banana, pineapple, and apple bananas....
...to vegetables like lettuces, kale, corn, carrots, and eggplants.
They also grow and harvest avocados and a variety of herbs like parsley and cilantro. In total, they grow more than 35 products, but it's their non-GMO SunRise Papaya that is most well-known.
Visit for yourself six days a week (Monday through Thursday) to stock up on produce and a variety of other pre-packaged products like honey, macadamia nut butter, and more. Just think of all the yummy dishes you can make with this fresh produce.
If you haven't stopped by Kumu Farms, what are you waiting for? Don't forget to stop by the rest of the magnificent shops and eateries at the Maui Tropical Plantation.
