If you’ve ever been to the Georgia coast, you already know how stunning the landscape and views can be, especially in places like Skidaway Island State Park. But what you may not have known about this beautiful state park is that there are a plethora of hiking trails to enjoy all year long. One of our favorite trails is the Big Ferry Loop, which clocks in at 3.4-miles and features some truly breathtaking scenery.
Big Ferry Loop in Skidaway Island State Park is a beautifully scenic hiking trail that takes visitors through some of the best parts of the park.
For close to 3.5 miles round trip, guests are able to hike the loop through the maritime forest, past the dripping Spanish moss, and along the vibrant waterways.
Meander through the old trees, the salt marsh, and along the boardwalk leading up to the observation tower which lets your see for miles.
There are tons of opportunities to catch glimpses of wildlife, from deer and raccoons to egrets and fiddler crabs, plus places where placards highlight pieces of history that remain.
Admission to the park is only $5 for parking, and guests can spend the whole day wandering through nature.
Big Ferry Loop is also recommended for kids, too, as there is a very slight elevation change, but it remains mostly flat with easy trails.
Pack some sunscreen and bug spray, maybe even a picnic lunch, and hike this wonderfully scenic trail along the Georgia coast.
