Hike Through A Sea Of Wildflowers and Greenery Along The Henry Buck Trail In Connecticut

The Henry Buck Trail in American Legion State Forest offers a beautiful springtime hike with blooming wildflowers in Connecticut.

We're the first to recommend year-round hikes. Trekking through the snow, reveling in fall foliage, and dipping into a trail side swimming hole all make for wonderful experiences. However, there's definitely something special about a springtime hike. Feeling the sun shine down on you and seeing the colors of all the newly blooming flowers is such a delightful experience after the long cold winter. One of the best places to see wildflowers in Connecticut (and one of our favorite spring trails in the state!) is the American Legion Forest's Henry Buck Trail. This trail is a great option for anyone looking to check out all the beauty of spring in the Nutmeg State.

The American Legion State Forest spans just under 900 acres in Northwest Connecticut. There are great opportunities here for canoeing, camping, and hiking.

The Henry Buck Trail is one of the more popular trails in the forest. It is a loop trail measuring right around two miles.

While the trail starts out somewhat steep, it does level out and isn't too difficult for most of the trek.

In the spring and summer, you'll see a beautiful array of wildflowers on this trail.

You may even spot some beautiful mountain laurel, the state flower of Connecticut.

There's also a ton of moss and lush greenery that will really make you appreciate the beauty of Connecticut nature.

Keep your eyes peeled for the little bursts of color.

It's such a treat to see so many beautiful wildflowers after the sometimes drearily long winter.

Once we've gotten some sunshine and everything is in bloom, this is undoubtedly one of the best wildflower hikes in Connecticut.
