Are you seeking an outdoor adventure in the Natural State that you can share with your pooch? Then scoop up your pup and head towards the sunshine for a day of exploring in central Arkansas. Woolly Hollow State Park in Greenbrier, Arkansas offers hiking trails and a beautiful lake for you and your dog to enjoy together.
Woolly Hollow State Park, situated on 400 acres, is approximately a one-hour drive north of Little Rock, or 30 minutes from Conway.
The park encompasses the 40-acre Lake Bennett, where you can rent a canoe, a pedal boat, or even a fishing boat, if you and your furry friend are so inclined.
On a hot day, you and your dog can choose to go swimming - just not at the swimming beach. There are several other shallow spots along the shore where you two can dip your toes. The lake was created in 1935 and named after Dr. Hugh H. Bennett, the first director of the U.S. Soil Conservation Service. Bring your own fishing pole, bait, and tackle if you plan to do some fishing. Visit the snack bar near the swimming beach if you get a little hungry.
Take the .5-mile Cabin Trail to visit the Woolly Cabin, constructed in 1882 by Martin Woolly.
In 1975, the cabin was moved from its original location less than a mile away.
If you are up for a longer trek, hike the 3.5-mile Huckleberry Trail with your dog.
You may just discover a waterfall along the way!
Gold Creek Loop is another trail in the park that you and your canine can explore together. This trail, .3 miles in length, runs alongside a creek, and is suitable for all skill levels.
After you have hiked the trails, you and your dog could camp in one of the tent or RV sites in the park.
Some of these campsites are directly on the shore, so you can fish or launch your kayak right outside your tent or RV.
We are confident that you and your dog will enjoy the fresh air and unique natural beauty to be found at Woolly Hollow State Park.
