Fall is such a splendid time to be in the Natural State. There's so many places to enjoy during fall rather it be for the foliage or enjoyably crisp weather. Once the leaves start to change colors, these excursions will be jaw-dropping! See how many trips you can cross off during the upcoming season.
1. Mount Magazine
See all of fall from the highest point in Arkansas this season! Mount Magazine offers sweeping views of the forest below as well as a sliver of Blue Mountain Lake.
2. Haw Creek Falls
The Ozark National Forest has plenty of beautiful spots to pick from for a fall visit but one of our favorites is Haw Creek Falls. This recreational area in Hagarville has gorgeous cascades as well as nearby trails for a full fall experience.
3. Steel Creek
Steel Creek on the Buffalo National River has repeatedly earned recognition as Arkansas' most beautiful campground. After you've pitched your tent you'll need to take on the Buffalo River Trail to see the Steel Creek overlook. It has a jaw-dropping view of the river, especially during fall.
4. War Eagle Mill
War Eagle Mill is the only working gristmill in Arkansas. Come to Rogers to see the beautiful mill and bridge but be sure to stay for lunch. Paired with a bowl of beans, they utilize the mill to make the best cornbread in the state!
5. Rosenbaum Lake
West of Crystal Hill, before you reach the Arkansas River, you'll come to a rather beautiful little spot: Rosenbaum Lake. The lake is an underrated fishing spot as well as a peaceful place to enjoy the surrounding fall colors.
6. Hot Springs
Take a drive to fly through fall colors this season! One particular stretch of road that'll tour your through the trees is West Mountain Drive in Hot Springs. This winding road will show you the true beauty of the Hot Springs National Park in the fall.
7. Twin Falls in Richland Creek Wilderness
The season cannot truly be enjoyed in Arkansas without a hike to a waterfall or two. If you can time it just right with the peak fall colors and recent rain, then a trip to Richland Creek Wilderness will be downright heavenly. The area has dozens of waterfalls including the notable (and beautiful) Twin Falls.
8. Eureka Springs
A seasonal visit to Eureka Springs is almost required if you live in Arkansas! This quirky town has everything for tourists from shopping to train rides. The foliage is downright stunning during the peak fall colors, too!
9. Old Mill
The Old Mill at T.R. Pugh Memorial Park always looks like a scene from a fairy tale, especially during fall! The replica 1880s water-powered grist mill made an appearance in the opening scenes of Gone With The Wind in 1940. The mill is surrounded by gorgeous flora and also features a waterfall and enchanting bridge.
10. Falls Creek Falls at Lake Catherine
Lake Catherine State Park in Hot Springs is the perfect family getaway any time of the year; however, we love taking the hikes around here during the fall season. Falls Branch Trail features a photo-worthy waterfall - Falls Creek Falls. Hikers will have a falltastic time at Falls Creek Falls in the fall.
