It's no secret that Alabama is a hiker's paradise. While some trails are easy to hike, others are much more difficult. According to many hikers, one of Alabama's most difficult hiking trails is the Walls of Jericho Trail. Even though this secluded trail is difficult to hike, the waterfall waiting at the end makes the challenge well worth it. To learn all about this trail and its waterfall at the end, take a look below.
The Walls of Jericho, which is located in Jackson County and covers nearly 13,000 acres, is best known as the "Grand Canyon of the South." Davy Crockett actually used to hunt here.
Hikers come from all over the Southeast and beyond to hike the Walls of Jericho Trail, which is a 6.6 mile out and back trail.
Many hikers have given this trail a difficulty rating because of its high elevation gain and rough terrain.
While hiking the Walls of Jericho Trail, you can't help but notice the beautiful surrounding scenery, including...
...a lush forest, several caves, and a collection of small waterfalls.
Without a doubt, the most rewarding part of this hike is what's waiting at the end - a relaxing waterfall. Once you see this waterfall up close, you'll realize the challenging hike was well worth it.
