Since Montana has more bookstores per capita than any other state (at least as of 2016), it may come as no surprise that there’s a city here that is home to more writers than any other city in the country… and it may not be the one you think.

Livingston is a charming place, but it may not seem like it’s such a literary hot spot. But it’s true–Livingston attracts writers from all over the world.

So just how many professional writers call Livingston home?

We can't know for sure, of course. But we do know that dozens of well-known writers live in town, like Tim Cahill (a travel writer), Steve Chapple (author of eight books), Maryanne Vollers (an author and journalist) and Peter Bowen (a Montana native). In addition, many more writers are scattered within 100 miles of the city.
Writers tend to love the small town hospitality, the charm, and the surrounding scenery of this area.

Livingston also hosts two major writers' conferences every year. If you're experiencing writer's block, perhaps you should consider spending some time here.
