The Fascinating Town In Montana That Is Straight Out Of A Fairy Tale
When it comes to popular vacation destinations in Montana, Whitefish nearly always tops the list. Montana residents, people from across the US, and many Canadians flock to this charming resort town every year, in every season. And given its fairytale-like appearance, it’s easy to see why.
Whitefish has some enticing amenities in a small town atmosphere.
People who live here tend to know their neighbors and welcome visitors.
This town got a rather late start in life, at least compared to other Montana cities.
While people had been living in the area prior, the 1904 arrival of the Great Northern Railway officially brought Whitefish to life. It was originally called "Stumptown" because the area was (and is) so wooded, but luckily that name never really stuck.
Today, Whitefish is a huge skiing and snowboarding destination.
The Whitefish Mountain Resort attracts thousands of people every year.
The downtown area turns into a beautiful winter wonderland when it snows.
Whitefish sees around 300 inches of snow every year, so there’s always plenty of time to enjoy the experience.
Part of the appeal of this area is being surrounded by natural beauty.
Whitefish is only 11 miles from Glacier National Park, and it’s in the beautiful Flathead County.
Staying at the resort feels like staying in a magical Alpine village…
… and staying at the nearby Garden Wall Inn feels like spending a weekend at Grandma's house.
Have we mentioned that you can take a beautiful ride in a horse drawn sleigh?
The nearby Bar W Guest Ranch offers magical sleigh rides all winter long.
Or that Whitefish is home to one of Montana’s only true rooftop bars, Casey's?
Just look at the incredible views from the lift.
Visiting this picturesque place is always a pleasure.
Have you been to Whitefish? It’s definitely one of the most charming small towns in Montana.
