This Charming Little Farm Town In Montana Is The Perfect Place To Get Away From It All
The area around Flathead Lake is known for having some of Montana’s best farms. And since there’s something especially relaxing about a getaway in a farm town (not to mention the access to delicious fresh foods), we want to give a special shout-out to the always charming Polson. No matter what season you visit, it’s a great place to unwind for a few days.
Polson is located in Lake County, on the southern shore of Flathead Lake.
Between the pristine lake and the agricultural area around it, this part of the Treasure State is a total gem.
While there's not much to the little city itself, you won't be bored when you visit.
Polson has some fun and quirky things to do.
First, you'll definitely want to stop by Flathead Lake Cheese at 208 1st Ave E. and sample some scrumptious local cheeses.
These handcrafted cheeses use Montana-made ingredients, including milk from single sourced Holstein cows .
The Miracle of America Museum is also an absolute must-see.
This one-of-a-kind museum is dedicated to the preservation of one of the largest collections of American history. You'll find thousands of artifacts here ranging from fascinating to a little outlandish. The nearby Polson-Flathead Historical Museum is also wonderful.
The restaurants in Polson, while limited, are quite good. Cherries BBQ Pit is a favorite for fast-casual food.
Richwine's Burgerville is the iconic local burger stand, although it closes for the winter.
If you love Montana's wildlife, you'll appreciate having the National Bison Range nearby.
This region consists of 19,000 acres of natural grassland that is home to about 500 American bison as well as birds, mule deer, and bighorn sheep.
And, of course, being on the shores of Montana's largest lake is always amazing.
There's nothing like a Flathead Lake sunset (or sunrise, if you're an early bird).
Have you ever explored Polson? The next time you visit
