Walk With The Dinosaurs At Two Medicine Dinosaur Center In Montana
Montana is definitely the best state for dinosaur lovers – we do have an entire
dinosaur trail, after all – but if you’re looking to experience something truly unique and off the beaten path, check out the Two Medicine Dinosaur Center in Bynum. This is a fantastic way to bring out your inner paleontologist and walk where dinosaurs once roamed.
At Two Medicine Dinosaur Center, it's all about the hands-on experience.
This is the only museum you'll find in Montana that actively encourages public participation in the ongoing scientific research.
An abundance of dinosaur fossils have been found across the state, especially in this area.
Paleontologists still dig here regularly, often with great results. Visit and you can check out all the fruits of their labor.
While you're more than welcome to simply observe, you can also participate while you're here.
The center offers a variety of dig programs for all ages during the summer months. The rainy season tends to last from May to mid-June, and after Labor Day weekend, it starts to get too cold to dig.
There is no age minimum for joining the team on a dig, but everyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Of course, adults often love the experience just as much as children.
While there are no guarantees that you'll make a major discovery, past digs have been pretty successful...
... plus, you'll be traipsing through some gorgeous countryside where dinosaurs once roamed.
There really is something uniquely beautiful about this part of Montana, which lies just southeast of Glacier National Park.
Although you can only dig for fossils in the summer, the center itself stays open all year long.
From October through April, you can visit on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (give them a call at 406-469-2211 to confirm, as hours occasionally change). In the summer, the center stays open every day of the week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Check out the
Two Medicine Dinosaur Center website and Facebook page if you’re interested in learning about Montana’s prehistoric past – you may even help make history when you visit!
