10 Things You’ve Grown To Undeniably Hate If You’re From Montana
There’s a lot to love about life in Montana, and you won’t find people with more state pride than those who call it home. That being said, that doesn’t mean we never have any grievances. If at least a few of these things make you roll your eyes, you probably grew up in Big Sky Country.
1. Road construction.
Yes, it's necessary, and yes, we're thankful for our good roads and thankful construction workers have good jobs. But that doesn't mean we have to like the delays and annoyances of it all.
It would be quite a reach to claim that EVERY Montanan is polite. That isn't the case. But overall, we're a group who was raised to have manners, and we don't appreciate people acting rude.
3. We hate to admit it... but...
The rumors about Montanans hating Californians is blown out of proportion. We certainly don't. That being said, there are a good number of Montanans who have plenty of California jokes. It is what it is!
The song "Wide Open Spaces" may as well have been written about Montana. We like our space here, and crowds freak us out.
5. Speed limits.
Admit it: When you're alone on the highway, you just want to GO. It's in our blood.
6. Too many rules.
We're a "live and let live" group here. So let us live, already!
7. Tourist season.
Depending on what part of Montana you call home, this may not impact you. But if you do live near a tourist town, you get a little tired of the crowds (see number 4).
8. Silly stereotypes.
Yes, we have cars, and WiFi, and every other modern luxury you can imagine. And we're a diverse group of people with varying interests and tastes.
9. When it's April and you've been shoveling your driveway and scraping snow off your car since Halloween.
We love having all four seasons in Montana, but could we speed up spring a little?
10. The haters.
Montana life isn't for everyone. In fact, that's just the way we like it. But just because you don't prefer it doesn't mean we're going to take it lightly when you insult our beautiful state.
It may seem like we “hate” a lot here in Montana, but in actuality, there’s also
a lot of things we love.
