Treat Yourself To Sweet Nostalgia At This Beloved Montana Confectionery
For almost a century, The Parrot Confectionery has been making Montanans’ lives a little sweeter. And if you were lucky enough to grow up in Helena, you already know how exceptional it is. This beloved treasure has a worldwide reputation for its quality candies.
The Parrot Confectionery is located at 42 N Last Chance Gulch in Helena, where it has stood since 1922.
And while it's changed ownership a few times, it's still a small, family-owned and operated business.
Stepping inside feels like going back in time, with antique items everywhere you look and an enviable candy counter.
From the assorted chocolates to the chocolate cherries and vanilla creams, you'll find everything you never knew you needed.
The handmade chocolates have remained consistent over the years.
When the latest owners purchased The Parrot, the former owners stuck around for a year to teach the art of chocolate-making.
As if the mouthwatering, world famous chocolates weren't amazing enough, the confectionery has a full soda fountain.
The authentic sodas are still made by soda jerks. The ice cream is homemade and hand-packed, just like the good old days.
Because the homemade flavored syrups, ice creams and toppings are all made from original recipes, they contain simple sugar.
There are no artificial preservatives, sweeteners, or high fructose corn syrup in their products.
If you've moved away from Helena and you miss these treats, you can order some of the candies online.
Of course, then you'll miss the charming atmosphere of the shop.
The Parrot Confectionery is open Monday - Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
If you've never been, come see what you've been missing all these years.
