This Upcoming Sweet Pea Festival In Montana Will Make Your Summer Complete
The Sweet Pea Festival has become a time-honored Montana tradition. This three-day festival of the arts always takes place in early August in Bozeman – and it’s easy to see why it’s such a beloved tradition. If you’ve never experienced this festival for yourself, make this the year you go.
The Sweet Pea Festival got its start over 40 years ago when a small group of Bozemanites dedicated themselves to putting it on to promote the local art scene.
The festival was born from the locals' desire to celebrate the arts, and it's still in existence due to the community’s desire to continue promoting local creativity.
The festival lasts for three days, but you can expect to see all kinds of local events leading up to it.
And here's the best part: The Sweet Pea Festival is a non-profit, so any money raised beyond what is needed to operate the event is given back to the community in the form of grants for the arts, art education, and special projects in the Bozeman area.
So what can you expect at this three-day extravaganza?
Live music, parades, and other entertainment, not to mention all the delicious food, craft beer, and over 100 arts and crafts vendors.
This is such a fantastic opportunity to introduce the little ones in your life to the arts.
The festival is completely family-friendly, and you'll find quite a few activities geared toward kids.
Sweet Pea has received national recognition in recent years.
Livability listed it as a "Top 10 Summer Festival" in 2013, and Travelocity included it in a "Local Secrets, Big Finds" list numerous times.
The festival also offers the opportunity to feast on some great local food.
You'll find food truck fare and local delicacies galore at Sweet Pea, so make sure to come hungry.
This year's festival will take place on August 2-4, 2019.
The festival kicks off on Friday afternoon in Lindley Park with a performance by Montana Shakespeare in the Park, and the festivities continue until 7 p.m. Sunday. The cost for a weekend pass is $30 ($10 for children) and includes access to all the festivities.
Address: 424 E Main Street Suite 203B, Bozeman, MT, 59715
