Last year was a quiet one in Montana, as our festivals, fairs, and other events were canceled for obvious reasons. And while we were happy to help everyone stay safe and healthy, we’re also thrilled to see our local calendars filling up with fun festivities once again.

If you’re looking for a small but wonderful celebration to help you ease back into group outings, look no further than Fort Benton on the weekend of June 25-27. Its annual Summer Celebration is always a great time. And since Fort Benton is known as the Birthplace of Montana, it seems especially fitting to celebrate our state there.

Fort Benton is the oldest settlement in Montana, having been established in 1846.

In fact, the city's waterfront area is a designated National Historic Landmark.
The Fort Benton Summer Celebration was founded in 1976.

In its first year, it celebrated the dedication of the Lewis and Clark Monument, and it has gotten better each year since.
The three-day event features food vendors, crafts and activities for children, live entertainment, free tours, and Montana-made art and crafts for sale. Art on the Levee is always a huge success.

From a free pig roast lunch on Saturday to a weekend-long pie auction, this is a small-town party at its finest.

Whatever you do, make sure you don't miss the street dance that kicks off at 8:30 on Friday and Saturday night at the corner of 14th Street and Front Street.
