No matter what part of Montana you call home, we can all admit life in the Treasure State is pretty darn good. And while our outdoor scenery and natural wonders are second to none (Glacier National Park, anyone?), we happen to think it’s our more offbeat attractions that define us.

These attractions aren’t all bizarre in the truest sense, but they are all unique to our wonderful state. How many of these have you seen in person?

1. The Cut Bank Penguin

Did you know Cut Bank has a talking penguin that greets you when you come into town? Cut Bank holds the title of the Coldest Spot in the Nation for its record low temps, and a penguin seems like a perfect way to pay homage to that. The sculpture was built in 1989. (The talking feature doesn't always work, but when it does, it's pretty great!)
2. Our Lady of the Rockies, Butte

No matter what your religion, it's always comforting to come to Butte and see a towering statue of Mary sitting atop the Continental Divide overlooking the city. This is the fourth-tallest statue in the United States, and you won't find anything quite like it anywhere else.
3. Steer Montana, Baker

Steer Montana was a 6-foot tall, 10-foot-long, 3,980-pound steer. He held the title of the World's Largest Steer when he was alive, and now he's immortalized at The O'Fallon Museum in Baker.

4. Garden of 1,000 Buddhas, Arlee

You might think it's odd that Montana is home to this spiritual site, which sits on the Flathead Indian Reservation and pays homage to the Buddhist Faith. But Montanans are all about freedom, and this is meant to be a place for people from all walks of life and all faiths to enjoy. This garden is both gorgeous and peaceful.
5. Miracle of America Museum, Polson

The Miracle of America Museum is a quirky collection of artifacts from U.S. history. It's open year-round, and it's an absolute treasure.
6. The World's Largest Dinosaur Skeleton at Two Medicine Dinosaur Center, Bynum

Montana's famous Dinosaur Trail is second to none, especially for those who love all things prehistoric. And while the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman is the most popular place to see them, we think the Two Medicine Dinosaur Center earned a spot on this list by being home to the world's largest dinosaur skeleton.
7. Bannack State Park

It isn't every day you'll see a true ghost town - and Montana's first territorial capital - immortalized as a state park, but we love preserving our history here, and visiting Bannack is absolutely fascinating. Go on a self-guided tour anytime, or come around Halloween for a spooky candlelit ghost tour.
