The Gorgeous Montana Lake You Never Knew Existed… But Have To Visit
We’re spoiled by an abundance of beautiful lakes in Montana, and that’s not a bad thing. But while the giants like Flathead Lake and Lake McDonald captivate our attention, it’s easy to forget about those hidden gems that hire a hike to reach. Sioux Charley Lake is one of those treasures, and it’s well worth the trek.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

This pristine, peaceful little lake sits in the middle of the Sioux Charley Lake Trail.

The trailhead is well marked and easy to find, and for the first few miles, you'll have great views of the Stillwater River.

There are even a few fishing holes along the way.

But that means you'll get some amazing views of the lake.

Most visitors are content with enjoying a picnic on the shoreline or going for a swim if the weather allows.

But Sioux Charley Lake is perfect for a day hike.
If you’ve spent a lot of time at Montana’s lakes, you know they’re truly something special. In fact, we happen to think we have the best lakes in the country.
