9 Once-In-A-Lifetime Adventures You Can Only Have In Montana
If you live in Montana, you already know that
it’s the best state. And one of the reasons life here is so good is that there’s no other place on Earth quite like it. Here are a few adventures you can only have in the Treasure State.
1. Hike the Highline Loop at Glacier National Park
The Highline Loop should be on every able-bodied Montanan's bucket list. The trail is 11 miles long, but you'll be surrounded by such amazing scenery that you won't even notice.
2. Hike to Montana's Chinese Wall
The Chinese Trail is not for beginners -- it's a whopping 53 miles in length, and the trek isn't easy. But Montana's "Great Wall" is absolutely amazing to see in person.
3. Go whitewater rafting on the Gallatin River
While it's true that you can go whitewater rafting in other states, there's something special about The Gallatin, which is one of the premier river rafting destinations in the west. And with companies like Montana Whitewater Rafting, you know you'll be in good hands.
4. Walk the swinging bridge over the Kootenai River to Kootenai Falls
This isn't so bad... unless you're afraid of heights.
5. Explore the Terry Badlands
This is such a beautiful and underrated part of the state. Make it your next summer adventure.
6. See the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone
Where else can you watch grizzlies and wolf packs interacting like this? Only in Montana.
7. Enjoy a sleigh ride dinner at Lone Mountain Ranch in Big Sky
Since 1975, hundreds of Montanans and out-of-state guests have enjoy the sleigh ride dinners at this beautiful ranch. Guests load up in a horse drawn sleigh and are taken on a ride to a family-style prime rib dinner illuminated by oil lanterns.
8. Stand at the top of Bighorn Canyon
Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area is incredible, and it's so unforgettable that you'll only have to see it once in a lifetime (though you'll want to go as often as you can).
9. Enroll in the Royal Tine’s Camp Cook School in Philipsburg
Learn to cook tasty meals using only the essentials, enjoy feasting on freshly caught fish (caught by you), cornbread and baked beans cooked over an open fire. A classic culinary school this is not.
