There’s certainly no shortage of great places to grab a bite to eat in Butte. Montana’s most notorious mining town is full of old and new eateries alike, but there’s a special place in the locals’ hearts for Mac’s Tavern. This family-owned Irish tavern is fairly new, but it’s already a local hot spot, and not just on St. Patrick’s Day (although that’s a pretty fantastic time to visit).

Mac's opened on St. Patrick's Day weekend in 2019, which is always a risky move considering that's Butte's biggest party weekend. They take St. Patty's Day seriously in the Mining City.

Luckily, things went smoothly, and the rest is history.
The restaurant is owned by Becky and Dr. Glenn McLaughlin. All four of their children help run the place.

The family spent four years renovating the two-story building, which dates back to the late 1800s.
These days, Mac's is known as a warm, welcoming local hangout with regular events and live entertainment.

It's also kid-friendly, so the whole family can enjoy the fun.
While this place is known for its tasty burgers, that's far from the only thing you'll find on the menu here.

From Irish classics like Shepard's Pie to the addictive Mac's and Cheese, you'll find whatever you're craving here. Just make sure you ask about the weekly specials. They're divine.
