Hike Though Montana’s Glacier National Park, Then Dine At Glacier Highland
The fundamental question is whether you view food as fuel or a reward. Or, maybe it is … how do you prefer your huckleberry? Do you prefer it on breakfast items such as pancakes or French toast or perhaps as a glaze on buffalo meatballs? Either way, a meal at Glacier Highland pairs nicely with a hike in the nearby Glacier National Park in northern Montana — and huckleberry pie is great any time. The Snyder Lake Trail is one of many hiking options near the western entrance of the park, where Glacier Highland sits as a convenient stop in the town of West Glacier.
The tiny town of West Glacier exists as an outpost for Glacier National Park visitors.
The trail is steep at the start and has a 2,000-foot elevation gain. Bear sightings are not out of the ordinary along the Snyder Lake Trail, so make sure to come prepared with bear spray.
After your hike is complete, head to the rustic, unpretentious Glacier Highland property. Here, you'll find a cozy 33-unit motel and restaurant.
Travelers like to experience different establishments, but many diners make multiple visits to Glacier Highland.
This restaurant and accompanying motel are on U.S. 2, 33 miles from Kalispell. For more information, visit the restaurant’s website. You’ll enjoy the sneak peek at menu items such as “hiking poles” and “camping logs.” For more details about hiking in Glacier National Park, see the National Park Service website.
