The Haunted Peaks Halloween Festival Is Returning To Montana, And It’s Spookier Than Ever
Every October, the beautiful resort town of Big Sky celebrates Halloween with a spooky two-day event known as the Haunted Peaks Halloween Festival. It’s a family-friendly event, has plenty of attractions for adults and children alike, and is pretty much perfect. And while this year’s festival will look a bit different due to current conditions, the community has come together to create a safe, fun, and sometimes scary affair.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

It's also the main gathering spot in Big Sky, where locals and tourists alike come together to celebrate special occasions or relax and have fun.

In fact, most turn it into a competition. The annual Haunted Peaks Window Display Competition is decided by festival guests who cast their votes.

Many of the events and activities are being offered virtually. If you do come to the town center, please wear a mask (and not just the costume variety).

Want to enter the annual pumpkin carving competition? Just take a photo of your carved pumpkin with a battery-operated votive and post it in the Facebook event discussion feed by midnight on October 30th. The team of judges will choose a winner on Halloween morning.

Yappy Hour at The Rocks at Fire Pit Park is also in-person (and adorable) on October 31.

If you've been missing community togetherness this year, this is a fantastic way to celebrate Halloween with your family safely while still having fun with your fellow Montanans.
