There are very few places in the world that can absolutely stun you into silence, but Grinnell Glacier in Glacier National Park is one of them. Located in one of the most breathtaking parts of the great state of Montana, this glacier is a geological wonder that you have to witness at least once in your lifetime.

Glacier National Park in Montana is one of those places. Filled with geological wonders, from jagged mountain peaks to the ancient ice in glaciers, this is one breathtaking spot that you should put on your bucket list.

It resides right in the heart of the park, which encompasses over 1 million acres. It is one of the most photographed glaciers in the entire park and is almost 220 acres large.

You can access it through the West Glacier or East Glacier, depending on what is open and available. The trail is a long, steep hike, but the views will knock your socks off. If you can afford a day of long hiking, then you need to hike this trail.

The entire altitude that you’ll hike on the trail is around 2,181 feet. The majority of your climb will be in the second half of your hike, so plan accordingly. Bring plenty of snacks, water, and a hat or sunscreen if you’re heading out on a sunny day.

You should make your plan to visit this glacier soon. Between 1966 and 2005, this beautiful glacier lost more than 40% of its acreage. At the current rate of melting, the entire glacier could be gone by 2030. If you want to experience it firsthand, you need to make plans to visit it as possible.

The current rate is $25 per motorcycle, and $30 per vehicle. This price will cover the cost of all the occupants in your car.
