Montanans love a good bookstore. The Treasure State has more bookstores per capita than any other, and a surprisingly large number of authors and writers call Livingston home. But even in a state full of new and used bookstores, there’s one that seems to stand out year after year. If you’ve ever been to Country Bookshelf in Bozeman, you probably know why it’s everyone’s favorite.

The bookstore dates all the way back to 1957, when Polly Renne opened it just off Tracy Avenue. When Mary Jane DiSanti bought the bookstore in 1986, she moved it to its current location.
Country Bookshelf has been listed in Martha Stewart's "Best Places to Find the Best Reads" and Paste Magazine's "17 Awesome Indie Bookstores."

Afar Magazine named it one of the "Best Indepedent Bookstores in the United States."
This magical place hosts over 100 events each year, from small book clubs to large book signings by well-known authors.

And even though the events have been out on hold for the time being, everyone in Bozeman is looking forward to the day they can resume.
