The Champagne Falls Trail In Montana Makes An Easy, Beautiful Winter Hike
At the end of summer or in early fall, many Montanans decide that the hiking season is over and hang up their boots until the following year. But believe it or not, the Treasure State actually has plenty of trails that are open all year. And while some might require a pair of snowshoes and special gear, it’s worth bundling up and exploring. The Champagne Falls Trail is especially enchanting this time of year, especially when you reach the frozen falls.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

Needless to say, this is a popular trek in the summer.

And no matter what season you hike this trail, the falls will always take your breath away.

Remember to bundle up, pack all appropriate gear, and take plenty of water and provisions along.

Luckily, with scenery like this, paying attention will be a breeze.

Whether or not the falls will be frozen will depend on winter's weather... but the odds are good that you'll experience a delightful (and icy) scene.

Plus, if you go now, you'll definitely cure any cabin fever that might be sneaking in.
There are several trails that will lead you to Champagne Falls, but we definitely think this designated path is the best. Do you have a favorite waterfall hike in Montana?
