Sweat, Sip, And Soak At Broadwater Hot Springs In Montana
Montana’s hot springs resorts are second to none, providing relaxation and healing (and usually food and fun). But while our more popular hot springs spots like
Fairmont get most of the attention, others manage to stay under the radar. If it’s been a while since you’ve been to Broadwater Hot Springs and Fitness, it’s time to schedule a trip. Not only can you enjoy an exhilarating workout and a soothing soak, but the onsite taproom and grill is surprisingly fantastic.
Broadwater Hot Springs and Fitness is located in Helena where it has remained since 1979.
The building, however, has been around much longer. It was built in 1889 (the same year Montana became a state) as the Broadwater Hotel and Natatorium. At 30,000 square feet, the Broadwater Hot Springs Natatorium pool was the largest indoor pool in the world.
In 1935, an earthquake damaged the Natatorium so severely that it was condemned.
The hotel was shut down in 1941 due to gambling, eventually reopening in 1979 as the Broadwater Athletic Club and Hot Springs. It changed ownership in 2015 when the name was changed to its current one and the property was renovated.
Broadwater Hot Springs is a fantastic spot to spend the day.
The property boasts a beautiful saltwater springs pool, a peaceful soaking pool, a hot tub, and a refreshing cold plunge. The Springs Pool is kept between 97 to 102 degrees, which is perfect for soothing sore muscles.
Of course, health and wellness involves more than just soaking in spring water.
Work up a sweat before your pool time at the newly remodeled fitness center. Between the Cardio Theater, free weights, and group fitness classes like Zumba and Pilates, you'll have a great time getting into shape.
And when it's time to indulge a bit, you don't even have to leave the property... The Springs at the Broadwater Tap Room and Grill opened in 2017 and it's wonderful.
The menu is modern, but the atmosphere is pretty nostalgic — this space was once a racquetball court, and the tabletops are made from the court's 1978 vintage wood floors.
The menu utilizes fresh, local ingredients and it's full of tasty classics like fish tacos, nachos, and pizza.
You can enjoy your entree with a glass of wine or one of the 22 beers on tap. The desserts here are also rich and delicious, and after a full day a the hot springs, you'll have earned it.
Broadwater Hot Springs and Fitness is open year-round, and there's never a bad time to go.
They're open daily, opening at 6 a.m. on weekdays and staying open until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights (10 p.m. on weeknights).
