This One Little Missouri Town Is A Nature Lover’s Dream

Today, the small town, home to just over 3,000 residents, is known as having "the most intact Victorian Streetscape in the state of Missouri,” according to The Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Bring your camera along because, as you stand along the river bank on a clear day, you can see as far as 20 miles away in Illinois. The park is also perfect for relaxing as riverboats and barges pass by.

Lounge with a picnic at Riverfront Park in downtown Louisiana, a particularly popular spot in January when the bald eagles pass over during migration. The park also features a boat ramp.

For more beautiful views, stop by the historic Riverview Cemetery, the final resting place of more than 14,000 Missourians. Stop to drink in the view, too, of the Mississippi River and of the enchanting downtown area.

Henry Lay Sculpture Park perfectly pairs nature with art. Embark on a 40-minute stroll through some of the 350-acre nature park that’s home to a cemetery, a maple grove, and 20 acres of artwork.
