Here Are 16 Signs You Have Spent Way Too Much Time In Missouri

Whether you’re Missouri born and bred or a transplant who’s fallen in love with our fair state, there’s a few things many Missourians have in common. Below are just a few signs you’ve been here too long (is there such a thing?).

1. When someone says they're going to the lake, you assume they mean Lake of the Ozarks.

2. You're more surprised when your state DOESN'T have a baseball team participating in the World Series.

3. The humidity doesn't even both you anymore.

4. You talk about allergy season like it's the bubonic plague.

5. You take our abundance of waters—lakes, streams and rivers—for granted.

6. You're surprised when you have to actually pay to get into a museum, zoo or tourist attraction.

7. But then you remember that on top of being free, ours are probably better.

8. You insert 'r's into random words. “I need to warsh the car.”

9. In your eyes, Nelly, Jon Hamm, Ellie Kemper, Sheryl Crow, John Goodman and Brad Pitt can do no wrong.

10. When someone mentions Cuba, Paris or Mexico, you think they're talking about the towns in Missouri.

11. The weather has become a legitimate topic of conversation.

12. You stereotype people based on whether they're loyal to big beer or craft breweries.

13. You know that Riverboat Red doesn't refer to a color.

14. A good portion of your wardrobe is Cardinals red or Royals blue.

15. “Bootheel” only has one meaning to you.

16. You have an opinion on whether it's pronounced 'Missour-E' or 'Missour-AH.' Everyone who doesn't agree is an idiot.
