The Stomach-Dropping Suspended Bridge Walk You Can Only Find In Missouri
Have you ever wanted to cross one of those old wooden bridges that you’ve likely seen in action movies? Well, you’re in luck because right in the heart of the Ozarks is one of the oldest swinging bridges left in the state. What makes this old bridge even scarier, it’s still open to traffic! For a suspenseful, stomach-dropping walk check out this suspended bridge in Lake Ozarks State Park.
The Grand Auglaize Swinging Bridge was built in 1922 by Joseph Dice. The area is now encompassed by the Lake Ozark State Park.
Visitors can find two suspended bridges on Swinging Bridge Road in the park but the wooden Grand Auglaize Swinging Bridge is the oldest and most thrilling.
The bridge is held by cables and is suspended high above the water. When walking across you may not feel the bridge moving but you certainly can on a windy day or when a car crosses.
