March means a whole lot of good things, including the arrival of spring, which might be the unofficial start of festival season. However, before we hit that glorious day when the calendar welcomes a new season, there’s a delightful maple sugar festival in Missouri that belongs on every Missourian’s calendar. It is one day only, but it’s jam-packed with fun.

Circle Saturday, March 4, 2023, on your calendar for the sweetest festival of the season, the Maple Sugar Festival. Held at the Historic Daniel Boone Home in Defiance, the annual festival will run from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Promising fun for the whole family, the Maple Sugar Festival gives you the opportunity to learn more about tree-tapping – both modern methods, and the way it was done long ago.

Adults and kids will have the chance to try tree-tapping on their own, too. You can also watch reenactors, who will boil sap.

Bring along your sweet tooth, because you’ll be able to try some sweet samples. If you like what you’ve tried, you can purchase maple syrup and other goodies from the attending vendors.

Admission to this annual Maple Syrup Festival in Missouri is free, and be sure to dress appropriately for the weather.
