The Soulard Market has operated out of permanent buildings since 1841 and encompasses two full city blocks! Julia Soulard brought the market full circle in 1841 after the death of her husband and a long battle to keep the land her father had given them. In 1795, she set aside the acreage of the site and oversaw the construction of permanent buildings to house the market.
