In St. Louis the heat is sweltering and nothing is better than a nice cool dip in a pool. Summer will be over before you know it and the outdoor pools will be closing. Here are nine of the best swimming spots around St. Louis that will make your summer awesome:
1. Raging Rivers Water Park (100 Palisades Parkway Grafton, IL 62037)
Raging Rivers Water Park is on the opposite side of the river in Grafton, Illinois overlooking the Mississippi River and you get to enjoy spectacular views of the river from the water park. Offering waterslides, a wave pool, and water fun for kids of all ages, Raging Rivers is a great time for families.
2. Hurricane Harbor at Six Flags St. Louis (4900 Six Flags Rd, Eureka, MO)
Hurricane Harbor is a big water park at Six Flags outside of St. Louis. It's double-the-fun because you get an awesome amusement park and water park all in one. Hurricane Harbor offers everything from crazy, intense, and wild waterslides, to splash pools for the little kids. We think you'll love how this park is great fun for the whole family.
3. Splashin' Safari (452 E Christmas Blvd., Santa Claus, IN 47579)
Even though Splashin' Safari is a little more than two hours away from St. Louis, it's worth mentioning because many people are not aware it exists. It's an awesome water park in Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana and a great place to take a family trip that is not far from home. Splashin' Safari offers water slides, a wave pool, and fun for the whole family! It's a great place for some wet summer fun.
4. Crestwood Aquatic Center (9245 Whitecliff Park Ln., Crestwood, MO 63126)
The Crestwood Aquatic Center is a great family-oriented place to go swimming. It's only $8.00 for non residents, and children under three get in free. The Crestwood Aquatic Center offers fun for all ages, a lazy river, and diving boards.
5. Shaw Park Aquatic Center (200 South Brentwood Blvd., Clayton, MO 63105)
The Shaw Park Aquatic Center is an awesome place to go swimming in St. Louis. It is a swimming pool without all the frills of lazy rivers and water slides however, visitors give great reviews and it is one of the top-voted pools around St. Louis.
6. Maryland Heights Center and Aquaport (2344 McKelvey Rd., Maryland Heights, MO 63043)
The Maryland Heights Center and Aquaport is another great community pool on the outskirts of St. Louis. The center offers more water slides than a normal community pool and water fun for all ages. It costs a little bit more than most local pools but rates high on visitor reviews.
7. Splash City (10 Gateway Dr., Collinsville, IL 62234)
Splash City is located just over the bridge in Collinsville, Illinois. It's an awesome family swim park with many activities for all ages! Splash City also offers free tubes, free life jackets, and free parking.
8. Kennedy Recreation Complex in Suson Park (6050 Wells Rd., St. Louis, MO, 63128)
The Kennedy Recreation Complex pool is in Suson Park in South County. It's another no-frills pool without diving boards or slides, but worth the visit. It consists of an olympic size swimming pool and a kiddie pool. It has a great repuration for being clean and one of the least expensive pools to visit. Children under four are free and from five to twelve and 65+ you only pay $4.00. Kennedy offers inexpensive concessions and is surrounded by acres of park.
9. The Lodge Des Peres (1050 Des Peres Rd., St. Louis, MO 63131)
The Lodge Des Peres is an awesome indoor and outdoor pool and occasionally you can watch a family movie from the pool after hours! They have an indoor wave pool and have been rated one of the best pools in St. Louis by the Riverfront Times.
