Sugar Camp Scenic Byway Is A Back Road You Didn’t Know Existed But Is Perfect For A Scenic Drive In Missouri
Although relatively short in distance, Sugar Camp Scenic Byway, perhaps the most beautiful scenic drive in Missouri, boasts a whole lot of natural beauty. If you don’t have a lot of time but are craving some time among nature, follow this picturesque path. Along the way, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get out of the car to stretch your legs, have a picnic, and enjoy the views.
You won't burn a whole lot of gas on your journey along the Sugar Camp Scenic Byway, which tallies just 28 miles through Mark Twain National Forest.
For striking views of the surrounding landscape, pull over by the Sugar Camp Tower. Unfortunately, climbing the tower is prohibited. (The views are still amazing, though.)
If you've brought a picnic, you'll find a table near Sugar Camp Tower and at the Onyx Picnic area. Both offer an idyllic backdrop for relaxing, eating, and taking in the views.
The drive along Sugar Camp Scenic Byway is beautiful anytime of the year. However, for particularly impressive views, be sure to follow this scenic drive in Missouri during the autumn.
Head over to the official website of the U.S. Forest Service for more information.
