Gorgeous views and a rustic experience await at the Moonshack, in Thornfield, the perfect place for a getaway – especially if you’re ready for an off-grid adventure.
You’ll drive along a private road to the charming cabin that’s nestled on 50 lush acres and bordered on three sides by Mark Twain National Forest. Because you’re back in the woods, your best bet is to drive a four-wheel-drive or a 4 by 4.
The winding walkway to the cabin, which comfortably sleeps up to six guests, is made from dirt and can be a bit uneven. Suitcases on wheels definitely don’t work well on the path.
A gorgeous rustic cabin, the Moonshack features one bedroom and an open loft. The cozy but spacious cabin has a kitchen, a clawfoot tub, and a fireplace.
However, you won’t have some modern conveniences, including WiFi, a television, or even a traditional toilet. (Instead, you’ll have a “flushing stool.”)
For an authentic and primitive experience, enjoy a relaxing shower in the outdoor shower. Speaking of the outdoors, you’re in for an incredible treat and stunning views.
The charming cabin sits next to a beautiful spring. Imagine falling into a relaxing afternoon’s sleep to the sound of the water tumbling into a crystal clear pool from a water wheel.
Relax outdoors by the clear pond or by the tiny but breathtaking waterfall. Don’t forget to pack your hiking boots, so you can explore the 50 acres or Mark Twain National Forest.
