This Restaurant In Missouri Used To Be A Gas Station And You'll Want To Visit

The first and foremost priority for a restaurant is to serve amazing food. But next on that list is the restaurant’s ambiance, which helps create that truly unique dining experience that’ll have customers coming back for more. The latest restaurant fad is re-purposing old gas stations into trendy restaurants. Luckily for us Missourians, Genessee Royale Bistro in Kansas City hit the nail on the head with both its venue and delicious food.

Restaurant owner, Todd Shulte, has a history of working in re-purposed gas stations. His first professional cooking job was at a restaurant in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City that once was a 1920s service station.

In 2010, he saw the opportunity to turn a vacant gas station in the West Bottoms neighborhood into a full fledged restaurant.

On the outside, the firetruck red paint and large windows may give it a more modern feel. However, when you walk in, you'll notice all the vintage touches from mismatched wooden chairs to antique frames on the wall.

Genessee Royale Bistro starts the day off with breakfast and spills over into brunch for those late-risers. Their breakfast sandwiches on Meshuggah bagels are to die for.

For a hearty lunch, grab a burger on a sweet egg bun. They also have an amazing chicken salad sandwich with curried chicken, toasted cashews and apples.

Genessee Royale Bistro is located at 1531 Genessee Street in Kansas City and is opened Tuesday-Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with Sunday brunch going from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
