Missourians already know how cool Missouri truly is but we’re oven overlooked by outsiders. So, while we were quietly becoming the coolest state in America the rest of the country has just started to notice. There are so many reasons why Missouri is such an awesome state but here are 10 things that are really making the Show Me State stand out as the coolest in the nation.
1. Our amazing and free state parks offer activities for every outdoors enthusiast.
From a casual nature hike to fly fishing, there is a Missouri State Park perfect for your next weekend trip. With over 90 parks and historical sites under the Missouri State Parks umbrella there is surely a great park near you!
2. We embrace the unusual.
Missouri often gets a bad rep for lacking in cultural and artistic opportunities. Missouri is a great place for creative individuals to work and collaborate. From small business owners to professional artists, Missouri is a great place foster creativity.
3. We've got the meats (and other great eats).
Missouri is the barbecue capitol of the nation (move over Texas) and have nationally ranked barbecue joints all across the state. Missouri is also known for regional favorites like St. Louis style pizza and pork steaks.
4. Missouri has great night life and entertainment districts.
Head to Westport in Kansas City or The Grove in St. Louis. If you're in Columbia head downtown and if you're in St. Charels you'll want to hit up Main Street. 5. The best city park in the nation is right here in Missouri.
Forest Park in St. Louis was named the best city park in the nation and it's easy to see why. With over 14,000 acres you can walk the trails, visit the zoo, science center, history museum, art museum all in Forest Park and all for free. If you have never visited Forest Park it is well worth the trip.
6. There are many unique attractions you can only find in Missouri.
Places like the City Museum, Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium, and the Titanic Museum are just some of the cool attractions you can only visit in Missouri. When you pair these awesome attractions with our parks and restaurants you'll have the itinerary for a perfect day trip.

The Kansas City Public Library is not only beautiful but their parking garage is a work of art. The inside is just as amazing as the outside and it's filled with every book you could ever want to read. There are so many awesome libraries across the state that are worth checking out. We also have a presidential library, The Truman Presidential Library can be found in Independence near Kansas City.

Missouri is unofficially known as the Cave State because of the over 6,000 known caves located across the state. Take a cave tour of many caves in Missouri, visit the cake pumpkin patch, enjoy a glass of wine at the Cave Vineyards, or get married at Bridal Cave. There are so many things you can do underground in Missouri.
