The Limestone Hill Trail Will Show You A Completely New Side Of Missouri
We’ve got so many great trails in Missouri that it can be overwhelming to choose one! If you’re looking for your next hike in the Show-Me State, why not explore Mastodon State Historic Site? This 430-acre site in Imperial has all kinds of interesting things to do. It’s got trails and a fascinating museum with fossils on display. This place has gained fame as an important archeological site. All kinds of remains have been discovered here. There are several trails that are great for an afternoon of exploring.
One of the more popular trails at the park is the Limestone Hill Trail. This loop trail clocks in at just under two miles.
This is a really unique hike. It's got some rugged territory, and there are quite a few rough areas. You'll pass through a forest and up a hill and along a limestone bluff.
You'll be heading uphill for part of the trail, but there are plenty of benches to stop and catch your breath. Don't let the elevation gain intimidate you!
There are also several interconnecting trails that you can check out if you want to make the hike a little longer. In the spring, there are loads of wildflowers.
