Kansas City has done some great things, but what about recent achievements? We’re full of restaurants, cultures, and experiences that you can’t find together just anywhere. Of course,
we already knew that, but who else has been noticing our charm? These magazines have named our city and our businesses some of the best in the country. Take a look at why you should be proud of our city this year.
1. Kansas City ranks overall 17th for sports, and earns the top spot for soccer according to
We love our soccer team to death, and won't abandon any sports team we've created. Of course that's why we're such a great place to be if you love sports!
2. Kansas City ranks No. 3 in "Best Cities for Jobs" by
This is based on median home value, job satisfaction, median base salary, and job openings. Maybe we do have room for a few new people after all!
3. And we're the No. 2 city for creating high-wage jobs according to
Forbes found that we've attained 28.4% growth since 2011, they placed us based on a number of things including "low taxes and a pro-business regulatory environment." What do you think?
Curbed listed our Kauffman Center for Performing Arts on their list of the top 21 theatres in the country.
With praise to the designer, Moshe Safdie, we're on this list because of these beautiful shell-shaped steel venues connected by glass walls that make for some of the best views of the city. I guess you can't get better than that!

We all know just how expensive these chocolates are, but they're well worth the price if they made #4 on Food&Wine's list! Plus, you can get them on sale for $1 each on First Fridays - if there's any left by the time you get there!

We know Kansas City barbecue is the best, and we're consistently proven correct when we see Joe's make it at the top of any list. I just wonder how they got any barbecue at all before it was snatched up by locals!
7. Stock Hill is one of the 13 Best Steakhouses in America, according to
Thrillist praised Stock Hill's "innovative appetizers" and their ability to customize any simple dish. They also heavily recommend "their Robuchon whipped potatoes."
8. TikiCat landed the top spot on the Best Tiki Bars in the World for 2017 according to
The list includes places from huge cities all across America, as well as one tiki bar located in Germany. This video from their website showcases the stunning atmosphere they've created, but you'll have to experience it yourself to understand why they're on top!
9. The #2 and #6 craziest ballpark stadium food items according to

The #2 spot was won by our very own Pulled Pork Patty Melt, which is a funnel cake bun holding pulled pork, fried onions, cheese, bacon, and a jalapeño skewer. That's a lot going on, but it must be good!
