Built in the mid part of the 1800s, William Lemp Sr. purchased the massive 33-room Lemp Mansion years later and had it transformed into a Victorian-era masterpiece, where he would live with his wife and son, William Lemp Jr.
The Lemp family’s future, however, would be marred by one tragic tale after the other, including early deaths by heart failure and four suicides. William Lemp Sr. was among those who committed suicide.
Prior to his death, however, it’s said that Lemp Sr. had had a love child with his mistress. That boy, who legend tells had Downs Syndrome, was relegated to living locked away on the mansion’s third floor, away from the family’s and the public’s view.
