The 431-acre state historic site is home to the Kimmswick Bone Bed, where scientists uncovered evidence to show that humans and American mastodons co-existed in North America at the same time.

The museum is open all year round, although hours vary according to season. A nominal admission fee is required. Visitors 12 years and younger get in free.

If you're up for a bit of a challenge, the longest trail Limestone Hill Trail spans two miles and features rough terrain and plenty of inclines. However, it will lead you through lush forested areas.
