Bundle up for a day of adventure at Forest Park in St. Louis, particularly popular for Art Hill, a massive sledding hill.
Thrill-seekers have been trudging up Art Hill with sleds in tow for more than a century. If you’ve not been to this popular winter spot, you’re in for a treat.
Art Hill leads straight to the water, which is typically walled off by hay bales. However, don’t 100 percent count on those hay bales protecting you from landing in the icy water.
Expect a ton of riders on the hill but, fortunately, the hill is plenty big to fit just about everyone. You’ll also need an abundance of energy to climb back up the hill after each run.
Once you’ve had your fill of sledding (if that’s even possible), you might want to check out all of the other winter activities at Forest Park, including ice skating.
Lace up your skates for an afternoon or an evening of gliding around Steinberg Skating Rink, which is usually open from November through late February.
